Multiple Importance Sampling

Computer Graphics · Light Transport · 1995 · also: MIS, Balance heuristic · multiple-importance-sampling.yaml

Combine several sampling strategies by weighting each sample according to the probability every strategy would have had of generating it. The balance heuristic makes the combination provably near-optimal.

Colour is the family; a dashed line is the second member of it.
